An appropriate age?

There has been a lot of debate regarding the right age to introduce a child to video games. How does someone decide what the right age is?
Most people believe it's around seven to eight years of age, when the child is big enough to understand how to control his gaming habits and hours. However, the most apt thing to do would be introduce young ones to different video games at different points of time. While something as innocent as 'Cakeshop' would be good for a three-year-old, the same child would not be good with something like Grand Theft Auto.

In the end, it is the discretion of the parents which matters most.
