One thing is for sure and that is the gaming is pushing full force ahead. Today we probably did a little fantasizing to see where our imagination and wishes would take us. The following offers some proposals of what may be done short of a little thing called, "impossible. " We are a small curious with the "Sun Game Glasses " idea. Wearing two dark sun shades and using the technology implemented by Nintendo's "Wii " system, we could literally watch a game happen right before our eyes and then have interaction with it employing a device that is about the scale of a pen.
Since this is not precisely a new idea, we are curious to look at what develops from Varsity of South Australia's 'ARQuake' project1 - a springboard for this sort of gaming to develop in the future for sure. Another cool concept we would like to see explode in the gaming industry is the power to talk to the characters within a game. Some games permit players to textually talk to game characters already, but we would like to see this pushed a little further.
We would enjoy being able to orally have interaction with characters : raise questions, joke around, warn and talk to them as if we were talking to another homo sapien. And we would like to hear these characters talk back! It is the final A.
I opportunity and even though it would most likely be years before this technology would be available on a wide scale, we're sure it'd be a hit. Will we ever get to the point at which we can play within a simulated environment the way in which the characters in Star Trek : the new generation could play? Virtual is getting close, but the unvarnished reality of the simulation is gone the instant we put on the silly-looking glasses and gloves. For simulation of this sort to work, there must be as little a barrier between gameplayers and the game as practical.
We do not what to just think that we are within a game, we wish to feel that we are within a game and to be truthful, we do not really want to have to go somewhere outside our home to do that. The TV or computer screen will suffice for the moment, but in the future, we are going to need to be trapped with the elements that make gaming the wonder it is today.
